Pune, 16th August 2023: The production of the revamped Smart Card for Vehicle License and Registration Certificate (RC) is set to kick off on August 21, employing state-of-the-art technology across three designated centers. These centers collectively aim to print 75,000 smart cards daily. Pune: With digitisation, the country is becoming smart every day. The Maharashtra State Transport Department will soon provide smart cards to new vehicle owners instead of the Registration Certificate (RC) books. Issuance of driving licences has taken a huge hit at several regional transport offices (RTOs) across the state, including Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad, due to non-availability of smart cards. They have planned to print approximately 45,000 smart cards daily, ensuring a smooth and efficient process for the issuance of new RC books and permanent licenses.
